The Biden administration must dramatically accelerate its land protection and rulemaking efforts if the president hopes to campaign on or leave a lasting legacy on America’s public lands in 2024.
CWP’s Aaron Weiss and Lauren Bogard sat down with Colorado rancher Jay Fetcher, a finalist for the 2021 Colorado Leopold Conservation Award. Jay’s father and uncle founded Fetcher Ranch in 1949, and Jay was instrumental in the creation of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust, which protects working agricultural land while conserving natural resources.
Under Secretary Ryan Zinke, the Interior Department has become a rubber stamp for the oil and gas industry. A recent analysis of 24 policy changes supported by the oil, gas, and coal industries found that the Trump Interior Department has already taken meaningful action to complete or advance 13 of them.
