DENVER—In response to today’s announcement from the Outdoor Industry Association that the outdoor recreation economy generates 7.6 million jobs and $887 billion in annual consumer spending, the Center for Western Priorities released the following statement from Advocacy Director Jesse Prentice-Dunn:
“Today’s report shows that outdoor recreation on public lands helps communities across the West thrive. Our national parks and monuments are economic drivers to gateway communities throughout the region. These numbers explain why 80 percent of Western voters oppose efforts to erase or shrink our national monuments.”
