DENVER—In response to the announcement of the Interior Department’s final Methane and Waste Prevention Rule, the Center for Western Priorities released the following statement from Advocacy Director Jesse Prentice-Dunn:
“It’s wonderful to see the nation following Colorado’s lead in requiring oil and gas companies to capture, rather than waste, harmful methane on our public lands. Today’s rule is a commonsense fix that’s great news for our climate and our economy—reducing greenhouse gas pollution while ensuring taxpayers get their fair share from the resources that belong to all Americans.
“By finalizing this and other rules that have been years in the making, the Obama administration is showing strong leadership in its final weeks.”
Jesse Prentice-Dunn is available for video and audio interviews. To speak to an expert about energy production and public lands, contact Media Director Aaron Weiss at 720-279-0019 or aaron@westernpriorities.org.
