I wanted you to be the first to know about exciting news coming from the Chaco National Historic Park in New Mexico.
Industrial drilling has been knocking on the front door of famed parks across the West, but the Bureau of Land Management has tapped the breaks on the threat at Chaco and bought us some time. We have an opportunity to move closer to Equal Ground by balancing conservation with development.
Make sure you read this article about the threat at Chaco.
The BLM showed good judgment in its decision to limit industrial oil and gas drilling next to the park known for its natural beauty and ancient Native American structures, but we aren’t out of the woods yet. Oil and gas companies still want this land for oil and gas development, which is why we have to keep working toward permanent protection. Before us is a big challenge, but protecting new lands provides a sustainable economy for New Mexico, and a lasting legacy for our kids and grandkids.

Please help us tell President Obama and Congress that energy development and conservation need to be responsibly balanced on Equal Ground.
